Celebrating Eighty Years At Evergreen
O God before whom the generations rise
and pass away, we are grateful for memory and hope.
We remember with joy and appreciation those who have
walked this way and have finished their course.
Their names are recorded on pages of human history but
more importantly in the Book of Life. We give
thanks that their memories continue to bless our lives.
We are grateful for Jesus Christ who was
their living hope and is ours today. And as we
celebrate these 80 years of this church, and the 200
years of The Presbyterian Church (USA), make the Gospel
they proclaimed live anew in us. You have kept
faith with us in the past, which brings us to this day,
so go with us into the future.
Teach us the lessons that others have
learned and lead us forward into new Truth.
Inspire us with visions from the past and excite us with
the possibilities and promises which are yet to be.
Father, we thank you for all these
friends and families who have returned today to help us,
and be partners in this special day in the life of the
church.
And when we close this day, and move
into the future, empower us with the vision to see the
world through new eyes, and rededicate ourselves in a
responsible stewardship and faithful service. This
we ask in Christ’s name and for his sake.
